In Times Square:
Last month at this time (time flies!) I took my first trip to NYC. Yes, that's right, I had never been before. People find it strange but I have never been to many big cities, period. Moscow, but that was 11 years ago, Vancouver, Waikiki (aka Little Tokyo) and Cincinnati, but that was for a Phish show, so the memory is fuzzy. Most cities I fly into, and then quickly escape to the closest mountain or beach.
But New York, that was different. The point was to immerse myself as completely as possible in two and a half days. I'd say we did a fairly good job :)
I met my girlfriends Hilary, Ira and Tracy there. Tracy and her boyfriend Greg ran in the NYC Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 4th; Hilary, Ira and I cheered!
I ate all the food I could handle: Indian on Friday night, Japanese and Dominican on Saturday, then Greek on Sunday. You have to understand that I live in an area where the closest town only has 4 restaurants; my pallet needed refreshing!
The experience of the city was amazing and being there with your best friends makes it even more memorable. Everything we did was something different for me, country bumpkin that I am, I even enjoyed riding the subway, yes, the subway.
With Tracy after she finished the NYC Marathon in an impressive 3:25:36, yeah, that's right, I know your exact time, Trac! From l-r Ira, Hilary, Tracy and me.
