There are times when you receive news that just makes you hurt. You feel helpless and sad, frustrated and angry, hopeless and discouraged. Today I found out that my father needs to have surgery for an abdominal hernia, and no one will perform the surgery for him because he does not have health insurance. It makes me so angry to think of him, still working hard at the age of 61 and having to just deal with the pain caused by the hernia because no one will help him. What kind of country do we live in? Why are good people forced to live with health conditions that can be resolved simply because they can't afford health insurance? My dad is a good man, an honest, hard working man who would make monthly payments out of his own pocket to pay for the surgery and yet no one will even consider that as an option. What happened? Where did we as a country go so wrong? Why does no one care about the middle class? People are slipping through the cracks an no one blinks an eye. Our priorities are so skewed... Where is our hope? Our bright future? The land of opportunity? It's all a load of horse shit, I tell you. There is no reward for your hard work. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. It's just an endless sea of despair.
